Utahn Tony Finau went into the final round of The American Express tournament in solid position to earn his second PGA Tour victory, as he was tied with two other golfers for first at 15-under.
He had another good round Sunday — Finau shot 4-under to finish at 19-under 269 for the tournament — though it wasn’t enough to earn that elusive win.
Instead, he finished fourth, as a trio of golfers had a better day to move up the leaderboard. Si Woo Kim, who was tied with Finau and Max Homa atop the leaderboard heading into the day, shot 8-under to win the tournament with a 23-under 265.
Patrick Cantlay shot a round-best 11-under Sunday to finish one stroke back in second, while Cameron Davis took third after shooting 8-under in the final round.
Finau took home $328,320 in winnings with the fourth-place finish, per golf.com. There were 25 players within five strokes of the lead heading into the final round.
Finau had six birdies in the final round — three each on the front and back 9s — combined with a pair of bogeys on holes No. 11 and 14.
