Corner Canyon’s Jaxson Dart is No. 1.
Dart was named the MaxPreps National High School Player of the Year on Friday, joining an illustrious list of past recipients that includes Terrelle Pryor, Derrick Henry and Kyler Murray, among others.
Dart, who signed with USC, was also named Deseret News Mr. Football in December.
“He has that natural arm talent and he can rip it anywhere, and it’s really clean, I don’t know that he ever throws a duck,” Corner Canyon head coach Eric Kjar told the Deseret News.
Dart was sensational in 2020, breaking the state record for touchdown passes with 67. He also threw for 4,691 yards at a nearly 70% completion rate with just four interceptions.
Corner Canyon went 14-0 and won its third consecutive state championship.
“It was crazy how efficient we were the whole year, a lot of times it was in the first half we were putting up a ton of those points. Looking back on it, it was super cool,” Dart said.
