The stakes

For BYU: The Cougars are looking to get off to a strong start in West Coast Conference play, which a win over the best team in the country would certainly accomplish. A victory would also go a long way in boosting BYU’s NCAA Tournament resume.

For Gonzaga: The Bulldogs have been the best team in the nation and are looking to continue their strong start. Avenging last year’s loss to the Cougars would be an added bonus.

The trends

For BYU: The Cougars have won their last four conference openers.
