The MTV Video Music Awards may have shown us a glimpse at the next big celebrity fight as rapper Machine Gun Kelly and UFC fighter Conor McGregor had some major beef at the event.
Photos and videos online showed MGK and McGregor spatting at the event on the red carpet pre-show. And then MGK’s girlfriend, actress Megan Fox, broke up the argument between the two, according to Vulture.
Per Variety, McGregor asked MGK’s team for a photo. But MGK’s team denied the request. McGregor then decided to throw his drink at Kelly, which started the argument.
- “MGK’s security overreacted and pushed Conor,” McGregor’s team told Variety.
There is speculation that McGregor was willing to actually fight MGK on the red carpet show, too.
- “(McGregor) was ready to throw fists,” an unnamed source told Page Six. “Security was having trouble holding him back.”
- That said, a rep for McGregor said that “Conor only fights fighters.”
You can see the inklings here for a potential celebrity fight in the midst. We’ve seen a number of celebrities enter the boxing or mixed martial arts ring for fights with known professionals. For example, YouTuber Logan Paul and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather went the distance in an exhibition boxing match back in June, as I wrote about for the Deseret News.
The betting world has already put MGK as an underdog against Conor McGregor, who is still nursing an injury from UFC 264.
