3 takeaways
• Coach Kevin Young wants the Cougars to play in as many games in NBA arenas as possible, but not just because his team is one of the top 3-point shooting teams in the country.
The Cougars stayed hot from beyond the arc, going 9 of 20 from 3-point range. Overall, BYU shot 52% from the field and 79% from the free-throw line.
• BYU is not the same team offensively without Richie Saunders on the court. The Cougars’ leading active scorer suffered a lacerated lip less than three minutes into the game when he collided with Wyoming’s Jordan Nesbitt and was taken to the locker room for evaluation.
He didn’t return.
Little-used wing Mawot Mag got the bulk of Saunders’ minutes and played well on both ends of the floor. The defensive specialist made three 3-pointers and forced several turnovers in his best game as a Cougar since transferring from Rutgers.

Comments
Mag, a career 27% 3-point shooter, was 3 of 4 from deep.
• The Cougars seemed to lose interest a bit after building a 30-16 with 7:20 remaining in the first half and only scored four points on their last 10 possessions of the half, allowing Wyoming to scratch back and make it 34-25 at halftime.
Both teams committed eight turnovers in the first 20 minutes, with the bulk of Wyoming’s coming early and the bulk of BYU’s coming late.
BYU took better care of the ball in the second half, finishing with just 13 turnovers.
