Utah has landed its first junior college transfer of the offseason.
On Saturday afternoon, Utah received a commitment from junior college cornerback Jeremiah Caldwell, who will continue his football career in Salt Lake City.
In 11 games played this season at Garden City (Kansas), the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Caldwell registered 32 tackles, a sack and six interceptions, including a pick-six.
A four-star prospect in high school, Caldwell began his college career at Louisville, redshirting there before transferring to Miami (Ohio), where he played in five games with six tackles and a pass breakup.
From there, Caldwell went to Garden City, where he blossomed into one of the top defensive backs in the junior college ranks. 247Sports ranks him as the fourth-best junior college cornerback and the No. 36 overall prospect in junior college this season.
Caldwell will help bolster the Utes’ cornerback position, which lost Zemaiah Vaughn to graduation and Cameron Calhoun to the transfer portal this offseason.
