Fred Warner continues to add to his Hall of Fame-caliber career.
The NFL All-Pro teams for 2024 were announced on Friday, and the former BYU Cougar was named a First Team selection at linebacker for the fourth time since he entered the league in 2018.
Though his San Francisco 49ers struggled this year, Warner was excellent as usual, tallying 131 total tackles, four forced fumbles, two interceptions, a sack and a touchdown in 17 games.
If such numbers weren’t impressive enough, Warner played the majority of the season with a fractured bone in his ankle. Apparently an injured Warner is still better than the rest of the league’s linebackers when healthy.
Warner has now earned First Team All-Pro honors in three consecutive seasons, with his first such award coming in the 2020 campaign.
Other players with Utah ties who were All-Pro selections
For the second consecutive year, former Desert Hills High School product Penei Sewell was named a First Team All-Pro for his dominance on the Detroit Lions’ offensive line.
Sewell surrendered just one sack in 17 games at right tackle and posted an elite 87.5 overall Pro Football Focus grade for the season, continuing to serve as one of the cornerstone pieces for a Lions team that earned the top seed in the NFC playoffs for the first time in franchise history.
In his first season with the Washington Commanders, Utah State legend Bobby Wagner earned Second Team All-Pro honors at linebacker. Wagner has now been selected as an All-Pro 11 times in his career — six on the First Team, and five on the Second Team.
The 34-year-old Wagner looked anything but, recording 132 tackles with two sacks, two fumble recoveries and four passes defended, emerging as a key leader for a surprising Washington squad that won 12 games for the first time since 1991.
