High school girls basketball: RPI rankings Wednesday update — top seeds in 6A, 5A, 1A remain same

James has been covering high school sports in Utah for the Deseret News for three decades.

Here’s a look at the girls basketball RPI change after Monday and Tuesday’s games. The Deseret News updates the rankings and indicate the RPI movement up and down every Wednesday and Saturday throughout region play.

The rankings are pulled from the UHSAA website and are dependent on coaches posting the scores on MaxPreps in a timely manner.

This update only includes 6A, 5A and 1A. The UHSAA doesn’t update the rankings in the final week of the season. The final 4A, 3A and 2A RPI rankings and playoff pairings will be released on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The top teams in 6A, 5A and 1A remained the same after Tuesday’s games, with Copper Hills, West and Rich staying at No. 1.

In the last update for 4A, 3A and 2A, Ridgeline, Grantsville and North Summit were ranked No. 1. Here’s a link to that update for a slightly-outdated look at those rankings.

Here are the dates for the final RPI rankings release and state tournament bracket reveal by the UHSAA for the other classifications: Class 6A (Feb. 15), Class 5A (Feb. 15) and Class 1A (Feb. 17).

The UHSAA doesn’t provide updates to the rankings on its website once a classification is in the final week of its regular season.
