Former Utah quarterback Tyler Huntley is reportedly going back on an NFL squad after spending the past several months looking for a team.
Multiple news outlets reported Monday that the Browns are signing Huntley. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report.
Huntley heads back to Cleveland because the Browns are dealing with a handful of injuries at the quarterback position. Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel are both nursing hamstring injuries, while Shedeur Sanders is dealing with a sore shoulder, according to Schefter.
Huntley spent a large portion of the 2024 offseason on the Browns’ roster before being cut prior to the regular season.
After spending a brief time on the Baltimore Ravens practice squad, the Miami Dolphins signed him to their active roster in mid-September 2024.
He ended up starting five games for the Dolphins last season in replacing injured Tua Tagovailoa.
Huntley went 2-3 as a starter for Miami while throwing for 829 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. He also added 135 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
Huntley became a free agent in March once his one-year deal with Miami was up, and he hadn’t signed with a team prior to Monday.
He spent the 2020-2023 seasons with the Ravens after going undrafted. During that time, Huntley started nine games for Baltimore, going 3-6 as the starter while accounting for 11 touchdowns (eight passing, three rushing) and seven interceptions over three seasons.
