At the end of a recent practice, ahead of the 2025 high school football season, Mountain View’s football team was completely at the mercy of one of their classmates — junior girls soccer player Zoey Floyd.

In a fun twist of fate engineered by the Mountain View coaching staff, if Floyd made a field goal, the football team would be done for the day. If she missed, the team would be running before calling it quits.

It all fell on Floyd’s shoulders, er foot.

Before stepping up to take the kick, she said aloud in a video posted to Instagram — “I’m missing on purpose,” and then shrugged.

Watch what happened below.

Floyd, as shown above, easily converted the kick.

Her make elicited pure joy from the football and girls soccer team players — the latter were watching the proceedings closely — and the video of the celebration was posted on Instagram by MaxPreps and later on TikTok by ESPN.

Floyd herself commented on the video, writing “I’m so clutch.”

It was no doubt a fun reprieve for the Bruins’ football team, which will enter the 2025 season with a lot to prove.

Mountain View was picked to finish last in Region 8 this year, but new head coach Uani Unga — a BYU football alum — is optimistic that his team can learn from the coming year and build the foundation for a successful football program going forward.

“Our main focus in 2025 is on growth — teaching, developing and building chemistry. We’ve brought in a new coaching staff with a lot of experience and fresh energy, and they’ve done a great job laying a strong foundation for the future,” Unga told the Deseret News’ Tommy Bailey.

“We know there will be challenges, but we’re not chasing perfection — we’re chasing progress. If we stay locked in on improving every week, I believe this group can compete and help set the tone for what’s coming in the years ahead."
