Tanner McKee was the talk of the NFL Thursday night.

McKee started at quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles against the Cincinnati Bengals, leading the Super Bowl champions to a 34-27 win in their first preseason game of the year.

McKee completed 20 of 25 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns before he was taken out of the game in the third quarter.

His first score of the game came on a rushing touchdown when he successfully executed his first “tush push” in the first quarter.

The former Stanford quarterback threw zero interceptions but was sacked twice.

McKee told reporters post-game that he “felt good” about how he played, but noted that film could reveal some areas for improvement.

“But overall, moved the ball well. Had a lot of guys make great plays, so the feeling is good,” he said.

On Wednesday, the Eagles’ social media team shared a video of players reacting to their Madden 26 ratings.

McKee was shocked Madden gave him a 61 as his overall rating. He told them to “Watch Thursday. Tune in,” because he’d prove them wrong.

McKee was asked after the game Thursday if he thought he did enough to improve his rating.

“We’ll see. We’ll let them decide,” he said.

Prior to playing at Stanford, McKee served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brazil. The Eagles drafted McKee in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL draft.
