BYU is five days away from kicking off its 2025 campaign.

As the Cougars prepare to face FCS foe Portland State on Saturday, the program has released its first depth chart for the season.

  • There are 14 total “OR” designations on the depth chart.
  • With Bear Bachmeier having been announced as the starter at quarterback, BYU is letting its QB2 battle continue into the season with McCae Hillstead and Treyson Bourguet listed as co-backups.
  • After playing almost exclusively at free safety as a freshman in 2024, Tommy Prassas is listed as the starter at nickel.
  • Faletau Satuala is listed as an “OR” starter at both free and strong safety as the only player to appear on the depth chart in multiple defensive positions.
  • Only one projected defensive line starter — Logan Lutui — has ever started a contest for the Cougars.
