The future of women’s basketball at the University of Utah just got a little more promising.

Maybe more than a little.

On Monday, top-100 prospect and 4-star recruit Peyton Jones announced her commitment to Gavin Petersen and the Utes.

“I am beyond excited and grateful to announce my commitment to the University of Utah!” Jones wrote in a post on Instagram. “I couldn’t have done this without my family, friends, teammates, and coaches! I would also like to thank the Utah staff for this opportunity and believing in me! And most importantly I would like to thank God for guiding me through this journey! GO UTES!”

Jones, a senior at Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, is listed at 5-foot-11 and plays both point guard and shooting guard.

After playing sparingly as a freshman, Jones has been a vital piece for Valor Christian for the last two years.

As a junior this past season, she averaged nearly 24 points a game (23.9 ppg), along with nearly three and a half steals and two assists in 26 games played, per Max Preps.

What’s more, she improved dramatically from her sophomore and junior seasons statistically, improving her scoring marks by better than 80%.

In addition to playing for Valor Christian, Jones plays for Hardwood Elite 3SSB, which advertises itself as Colorado’s top basketball program.
