The BYU Cougars football team will reportedly be returning to Las Vegas for a season-opening game three years from now.

On Tuesday, On3’s Brett McMurphy reported that the Cougars will face the Oregon State Beavers in the 2028 Vegas Kickoff Classic held at Allegiant Stadium.

A date has not yet been set for the game, though it will be the first weekend of the 2028 season. McMurphy also reported Tuesday that Arkansas and Texas Tech will square off in the Classic in 2030.

The BYU football program has a significant history in Las Vegas and last played there in 2022, falling to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 28-20 in the Shamrock Series game.

The season before that, BYU played in the Vegas Kickoff Classic, beating the Arizona Wildcats 24-16.

It has previously been announced that the Utah Utes will play in the Vegas Kickoff Classic on Sept. 4, 2027, against the Miami Hurricanes.

FCS schools North Dakota State and Montana State will also play in the Classic that year, and Montana and South Dakota State are scheduled to play in it in 2029.
