Utah’s blowout win over UCLA garnered plenty of widespread attention, and now it’s resulted in some conference recognition for a number of Utes.

Devon Dampier has been named the Big 12’s co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday, with Utah earning Offensive and Defensive Line of the Week honors as well.

In his first start with the Utes since transferring from New Mexico, Dampier dazzled to the tune of 206 passing yards at an 84% completion rate and two touchdowns, while also leading Utah in rushing with 16 carries for 87 yards and another score.

Utah’s offensive line — headlined by highly-touted tackles Spencer Fano and Caleb Lomu — prevented UCLA from sacking Dampier and helped the Utes rush for 286 yards and four touchdowns as a team.

As for the defensive line, Utah sacked Nico Iamaleava four times and held the Bruins to 84 yards rushing at an average of just 3.0 yards per carry. John Henry Daley tallied two sacks, with Logan Fano, Karson Kaufusi and Kash Dillon teaming up to provide the other two.

Dampier shared Offensive Player of the Week honors with Iowa State QB Rocco Becht, who threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns against South Dakota this past weekend.

Additionally, new BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week for his five-touchdown effort against Portland State.

Dampier and the Utes will head home this weekend to host Cal Poly in an effort to open 2025 with a 2-0 start.
