BYU wide receiver JoJo Phillips took to social media to share a brief update after he had surgery.
The redshirt sophomore left the Cougars’ 27-3 victory last Saturday before halftime due to an injury to his right arm.
Late Monday night, Phillips shared a post on X updating that the surgery “went great,” and posted two pictures of himself post-surgery. He also had a message for BYU fans: “Thank you for all the love and support Coug nation I’ll be back soon!!!”

During his availability Monday, BYU coach Kalani Sitake acknowledged that the team is waiting for further details to determine how long Phillips might be out.
“There is going to be some time (out) with him,” Sitake said.
Phillips had three catches for 30 yards during the first half of BYU’s win over Stanford before getting injured.
During the second half, he was on the sidelines with his right arm in a sling.
Phillips, a redshirt sophomore, has been listed as a starter alongside Chase Roberts and Parker Kingston for each of BYU’s first two games this season.
His injury will open opportunities for other receivers like Cody Hagen and Tiger Bachmeier, as well as Tei Nacua and Reggie Frischknecht, who have been dealing with their own ailments.
