University of Utah commit LaMarcus Bell missed the season opener for Lake Oswego High in Oregon, but when he stepped on the field in Week 2, the running back made his presence known.

In his team’s 51-7 win over Sheldon last week, Bell ran for 148 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries — a 13.5 yards-per-carry average — according to Lake Oswego Review.

“We put in the effort in practice, all day 24-7 so I’m not surprised about the outcome at all,” Bell told the Lake Oswego Review. “We worked for this. We’ve been working for this all the offseason.”

His first touchdown of the game, a 28-yarder, came after a Sheldon turnover and gave Lake Oswego a 14-0 lead. He later added a 20-yard touchdown run just before halftime to push his team ahead by 30, per the Review.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Bell, rated a three-star prospect in 247 Sports’ composite rankings, also scored on a 9-yard run in the third quarter, the Review reported.

As a junior last season, Bell ran for 1,538 yards and 25 touchdowns while averaging 8.9 yards per carry and 139.8 yards per game, according to MaxPreps.

Lake Oswego will continue its season with a home game against Central Catholic of Portland on Friday.

It’s a rematch from last year’s 6A Open semifinals, when Bell led Lake Oswego to a 33-24 win over Central Catholic to advance to the state championship game.

In that semifinal matchup, Bell ran for 262 yards and four touchdowns on 26 carries, and his 13-yard touchdown with 1:18 remaining closed the door on a Central Catholic comeback, according to the Oregon School Athletics Association.
