Devon Dampier’s ability to make plays — even when it looks like disaster is looming — was on display yet again Saturday night in No. 20 Utah’s 31-6 win over Wyoming.

While Dampier had a handful of efforts that left defenders grasping for air, nothing stood out quite like his first touchdown pass of the night.

With the Utes nursing a 10-3 lead but driving late in the third quarter, they faced a second-and-goal from the Wyoming 8 four plays after Dampier converted a third-and-21 with a 22-yard completion to tight end Dallen Bentley.

On the second-down play, Dampier took the snap, then lost control of the ball, as it bounced behind him.

Undeterred, Dampier coolly collected the loose ball, then looked into the end zone and fired a dart to Larry Simmons, who caught the pass for an 8-yard touchdown.
