Jake Retzlaff is on a roll at his new school.
The former BYU quarterback has led Tulane to a 3-0 start in 2025, with two of the victories coming over Power Four opponents in Northwestern and Duke.
In his latest outing Saturday night against Duke, Retzlaff enjoyed perhaps the best overall performance of his college career, totaling four rushing touchdowns against the Blue Devils in a 34-27 win.

Retzlaff is now the only Tulane quarterback in program history to rush for four touchdowns in a single game.
“I just did my 1/11th today, and those guys around me played incredible and made the opportunity for me to score, so I did,” Retzlaff said after the game. “It was awesome to celebrate with those guys because they’re the guys who get it done for me.”
Retzlaff ran for 111 yards — just two shy of his career-high — at a 6.5 yard average, also completing 15 of 23 passes for 245 yards.
The matchup with Duke was especially meaningful for Tulane, as Blue Devils quarterback Darian Mensah had previously been the Green Wave’s starter in 2024 before transferring.
But Retzlaff made an early statement in helping his new teammates get revenge over the QB he replaced, scoring two of his touchdowns in the first quarter and another before halftime.
Through three games at Tulane, Retzlaff has thrown for 522 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for a team-best 288 yards with six more scores.
The Green Wave will face No. 17 Ole Miss on the road next week, giving Retzlaff the opportunity to make a statement in SEC territory.
