The 6A boys golf regular season came to a close on Monday with the final region tournaments of the season. The focus now shifts to the state tournament at Sleepy Ridge Golf Course in Orem next Monday and Tuesday where Corner Canyon will be chasing a 3-peat.
Farmington, Corner Canyon and Riverton won their respective region championships and will be among the contenders for the state title.
Corner Canyon averaged 278 throughout region play, just narrowly ahead of region foe and rival Lone Peak’s 278.1. Farmington averaged a 281.8 and should be in the mix at state as well.
The three region medalists in 6A are Layton’sMadden Barnes, Riverton’s Jaxon Erickson and Corner Canyon’s Ryder Huish.
Huish had the low stroke average in 6A this season with a 67.3. In fact, the top seven stroke averages in 6A belonged to Region 3 golfers. Corner Canyon’s Ben Wilson (67.5), Corner Canyon’s Tyse Boman (67.7), American Fork’s Jackson Davis (68.0) and Lehi’s Crue Harward (68.0) round out the top five after Huish.
The top returning finisher from last year’s state tournament is Wilson, who finished in third place.
