Ridgeline’s Dallin Anderson and Beckham Skinner both shot 4-under 67s during the opening round of the 4A state tournament on Wednesday to push the Region 11 champs out to a six-stroke lead.
Ridgeline shot a 280 at Lakeside Golf Course in West Bountiful to seize the Day 1 lead, followed by Crimson Cliffs (286), Dixie (287) and East (292).
Defending state champion Park City sits in seventh place with a 296.
Ridgeline’s No. 3 golfer, Jake Darley, is tied for 15th with a 1-over 72, while its fourth golfer is tied for 30th with a 3-over 74.
Crimson Cliffs senior Dylan Winona, who had the low scoring average in 4A during the regular season, is the Day 1 leader after firing a 6-under 65.
Winona shot 3-under on the front, and then after a birdie on No. 11 and eagle on No. 12, he efficiently parred the last six holes to stay atop the leaderboard.
Winona will be paired with Skinner, Dixie’s Luke Brown and East’s Ben Wright in the final grouping on Thursday that tees off on No. 1
Anderson will tee off with Crimson Cliffs’ Maverick Rhodes, Dixie’s Russell Israelsen and East’s Ollie Pearce at 10:30 a.m.
