Taysom Hill scored his first touchdown of the season on Sunday, and it was a historic one.
Hill’s 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter against the New England Patriots marked the 34th rushing touchdown of his career.
Hill, the New Orleans Saints’ gadget player, has a total of 56 touchdowns in his NFL career — 11 each as a quarterback and a receiver.

Hill was asked about his touchdown in an interview shared on the Saints’ YouTube page Monday.
“Any time you get into the end zone in the NFL, it’s a great thing, and I think it’s things that we want to continue to build on. But look, at the end of the day, we live and play in an outcome-oriented league and (are) trying to win football games, you know what I mean. Obviously, touchdowns help you do that, but we’ve got to find ways to do more,” Hill said.
The touchdown meant Hill passed Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway “on the all-time list for career rushing touchdowns by non-running backs,” according to NOLA.com.

Hill is now tied with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper for 15th on the list.
It was also Hill’s first touchdown since Nov. 17, 2024, when he scored three rushing touchdowns against the Cleveland Browns.
In that 35-14 win, Hill scored on a 10-yard rush in the first quarter and a pair of 33-yard and 75-yard rushes in the fourth, according to Pro-Football Reference.
It was also the game before Hill tore his ACL. After a long recovery, he returned to the field this season on Oct. 5.
“I felt all the emotions over the last nine, 10 months, so to be standing here right now and being able to be out at practice with my teammates and stuff is, it’s an emotional thing,” Hill said ahead of his return, as the Deseret News previously reported. “It’s one that you’re filled with gratitude, and a lot of people that have been really involved with this process, and so you take a step back and think about all those people and the experiences that you had along the way. It’s one that fills me with gratitude.”
Up next, Hill and the Saints play the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

The last time the Saints played the Bears in 2023, Hill recorded both a receiving and passing touchdown and 52 rushing yards, according to the Saints.
