6A Semifinals

No. 4 Mountain Ridge vs. No. 1 Lone Peak

Two-time defending 6A champion Lone Peak continues its quest for a three-peat when the Knights face Mountain Ridge Monday in a highly anticipated semifinal showdown at Zions Bank Stadium.

The No. 1 Knights (17-1-1) have been nearly unstoppable in their title defense, outscoring opponents 61-8 while recording 13 shutouts. Their dominant quarterfinal performance – a 3-0 victory over Copper Hills – showcased their championship pedigree as Ivy Harding netted two goals and the defense recorded its 13th clean sheet of the season.

No. 4 Mountain Ridge (16-4) enters the semifinal seeking redemption after last year’s heartbreaking 5-0 semifinal loss to Davis. The Region 2 champion Sentinels advanced with an impressive 2-1 comeback victory over American Fork in the quarterfinals, overcoming a first-half deficit with second-half goals from Alexia Hernandez and Kelsey Goodwin.

This marks the first-ever meeting between these programs, adding intrigue to an already compelling matchup.

Lone Peak features one of the state’s most balanced attacks, led by junior Kate Fuller with 16 goals and 12 assists. Harding has contributed 11 goals and eight assists, including her quarterfinal brace, while Macie Leavitt has added 10 goals and seven assists.

The Knights’ defense has been equally impressive, with goalkeeper Eliza Collings recording 11.5 shutouts.

Mountain Ridge counters with its own dynamic offensive weapons in Kaislee Johnson (23 goals, three assists) and Goodwin (13 goals, 13 assists), whose quarterfinal game-winner highlighted her clutch playmaking ability. The Sentinels have demonstrated their ability to perform in pressure situations, posting a 2-1 record in overtime matches.

Both teams enter playing their best soccer of the season. Lone Peak has won 10 straight matches since their lone setback – a shootout loss to Layton in late August. Mountain Ridge’s 13-match winning streak includes three victories over Region 2 rival Riverton.

The winner advances to the championship match to face either No. 2 Syracuse or No. 11 Davis.

No. 11 Davis vs. No. 2 Syracuse

Syracuse and Davis renew their Region 1 rivalry Tuesday at Zions Bank Stadium with a championship berth at stake and history suggesting a tight, defensive semifinal battle.

The No. 2 Titans (17-2-2) swept both regular-season matchups, edging Davis 3-2 at home in September before completing the season sweep with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Davis later that month. Now Syracuse seeks to eliminate the No. 11 Darts (10-8-1) and reach the 6A final for the second consecutive season.

Davis, last year’s 6A runner-up, enters as the tournament’s surprise team after consecutive upset victories. The Darts shocked No. 6 Lehi 2-0 in the second round before stunning No. 3 Farmington 1-0 in the quarterfinals when Samantha Maudsley scored in the 16th minute and the defense preserved the lead for the remaining 64 minutes.

Syracuse steamrolled through its playoff bracket with matching 2-0 victories. After blanking Cedar Valley in the second round, the Titans shut down Corner Canyon in the quarterfinals to reach their second consecutive semifinal.

The Titans feature one of 6A’s most prolific offensive duos in senior Taylee Hughes (24 goals, six assists) and junior Jocee Eddy (15 goals, 15 assists). Hughes has been particularly lethal during Syracuse’s current five-match winning streak, scoring seven goals during that span.

Sophie Martin has emerged as an elite setup artist with eight assists to complement her four goals, while Talia Thompson has contributed five goals and seven assists for a Syracuse attack that has outscored opponents 60-18 this season.

Davis counters with its own scoring threats in senior Kate Willard (12 goals, two assists) and junior Maudsley (nine goals, one assist). Sophomore Reial Phongsavath has emerged as an additional offensive weapon with seven goals on the season.

Both teams have demonstrated defensive excellence throughout the playoffs. Syracuse goalkeeper Erin Bott has recorded nine shutouts, including four in the Titans’ last five matches. Davis netminder Kaitlyn Harris has posted six clean sheets, with both playoff victories coming via shutout.

The winner advances to face either No. 1 Lone Peak or No. 4 Mountain Ridge in Friday’s championship match.

5A Semifinals

No. 8 Bountiful vs. No. 4 Springville

Springville’s first semifinal appearance in 16 years brings a chance at redemption when the Red Devils face Bountiful Saturday in a rematch of last year’s 5A quarterfinal.

The No. 4 Red Devils (15-5) secured their long-awaited semifinal berth with a 2-0 victory over Region 7 rival Timpview, while No. 8 Bountiful (12-5) continued its playoff dominance with a stunning 6-0 dismantling of top-seeded Kearns in the quarterfinals.

Just one year after Bountiful ended Springville’s season with a 2-1 quarterfinal victory, the programs meet again with championship aspirations at Zions Bank Stadium. The matchup highlights Springville’s remarkable improvement, rising from a 21st seed last year to a semifinalist this season.

The Red Devils have relied on junior Sage Conrad’s offensive prowess (18 goals, eight assists) and a balanced supporting cast including sophomore Adalie Dodd (10 goals, six assists) and junior Trevi Jackson (seven goals).

Springville’s defense has been particularly impressive, allowing just 27 goals in 20 matches while recording six shutouts. Goalkeeper Caroline Penrod has anchored that effort with five clean sheets, including the quarterfinal victory over Timpview.

Bountiful seeks its fourth consecutive semifinal appearance behind one of 5A’s most lethal offensive attacks. The Redhawks’ offense has exploded for nine goals in two playoff matches, led by senior Belle Sorensen, who has tallied 24 goals and 10 assists this season.

The Sorensen-Page duo has been nearly unstoppable, with junior Myka Page contributing 13 goals and nine assists to complement Sorensen’s production. Jane Hellewell has been a key playmaker with eight assists, helping Bountiful score multiple goals in 13 of their 17 matches this season.

These teams haven’t met this season, but their contrasting styles suggest a compelling matchup. Bountiful has scored 52 goals while allowing 32, while Springville has netted 50 goals while surrendering just 27.

Both teams have shown the ability to win close matches, with Bountiful posting a 3-0 record in overtime games and a 1-0 mark in shootouts. Springville has gone 1-1 in overtime matches and 1-1 in shootouts.

The winner advances to the championship match against either No. 2 Olympus or No. 3 Spanish Fork.

No. 3 Spanish Fork vs. No. 2 Olympus

Defending 5A champion Olympus continues its quest for back-to-back titles, while Spanish Fork pursues its first-ever championship when these programs meet Saturday in a historic first encounter.

The No. 2 Titans (15-3) advanced with a hard-fought 1-0 quarterfinal victory over Region 6 rival Brighton, while No. 3 Spanish Fork (15-5) survived its second straight shootout to reach the semifinal stage.

These programs enter with contrasting championship histories. Olympus captured the 2024 5A championship with a shootout victory over Brighton, while Spanish Fork is still seeking its first state title.

Adrie Pulver scored the decisive goal in Olympus’ quarterfinal victory, adding to her season totals of eight goals and seven assists. The Titans feature one of 5A’s most balanced attacks, with Kiera Bradley leading the way with 14 goals and five assists, while Kya Newton has contributed 10 goals and three assists.

The Titans have outscored opponents 52-17 while recording nine shutouts this season. Their championship experience has been evident in pressure situations, with a 2-1 record in overtime games.

Spanish Fork’s path to the semifinals has been defined by resilience and defensive discipline. After edging Bonneville 1-1 (3-2 PKs) in the second round, the Dons outlasted Box Elder in a scoreless quarterfinal that they won 5-4 in penalties.

The Dons’ balanced offensive approach features Reese Harding and Sienna Hunt, who have each scored six goals while adding six and five assists, respectively. Kylie Harris has contributed five goals, while Aniston Harding and Lucia Soto have each netted four.

Spanish Fork has thrived in pressure situations, with a 2-0 record in overtime games and a perfect 2-0 mark in shootouts. Goalkeeper Avery Barker has recorded four shutouts, anchoring a defense that has kept opponents scoreless in seven matches.

The winner advances to the championship match against either No. 4 Springville or No. 8 Bountiful.

4A Semifinals

No. 5 Park City vs. No. 1 Ridgeline

Top-seeded Ridgeline has regained its dominant early-season form just in time for Tuesday’s 4A semifinal showdown with fifth-seeded Park City at Zions Bank Stadium.

The RiverHawks (16-3-1) stumbled briefly with three losses in a four-match span – falling to Green Canyon (4-2), then dropping a shootout to Mountain Crest after a 1-1 draw, before losing 1-0 at Sky View. But Ridgeline has emphatically righted the ship, outscoring its last three opponents 12-1, including playoff victories over Timpanogos (5-1) and Mountain View (3-0).

Park City (18-3) enters the semifinal riding an 11-match winning streak. The Miners eliminated Jordan 1-0 in the second round before stunning defending 4A champion Mountain Crest 2-0 in the quarterfinals, moving one step closer to ending a 20-year championship drought.

This marks the first-ever meeting between these programs, adding intrigue to a matchup featuring two teams with dramatically different offensive approaches.

Ridgeline boasts 4A’s most explosive attack, having scored a staggering 92 goals in 20 matches – including three games with eight or more goals. The RiverHawks feature a quartet of elite scorers in Sierra Dean (20 goals, nine assists), Keagan Grange (16 goals, nine assists), Lily Hunsaker (16 goals, nine assists) and Reagan Brown (12 goals, four assists).

Park City counters with its own dynamic duo in Elsa Dellenbach (14 goals, 13 assists) and Dyllann Reed (13 goals, five assists), while Mallory Carter has contributed six goals and four assists. The Miners’ defense has been equally impressive, recording 10 shutouts, including both playoff matches.

Both programs carry different championship legacies into this semifinal. Park City was once a dynasty, capturing five state titles between 1997-2005, but hasn’t hoisted a championship trophy since 2005. Ridgeline, a relatively young program, claimed its lone title in 2020.

The winner advances to Friday’s championship match.

No. 7 Desert Hills vs. No. 3 Snow Canyon

Seventh-seeded Desert Hills meets third-seeded Snow Canyon in an all-Region 9 semifinal Tuesday night at Utah Tech, with the Warriors seeking their first state championship since 2018 and the Thunder aiming for their first-ever girls soccer crown.

The regular season matchups between these rivals were split, with Desert Hills claiming a 2-1 victory on September 2 and Snow Canyon answering with its own 2-1 win on September 29. The Warriors (15-3-1), led by prolific scorer Lottie Smith’s remarkable 23 goals and four assists, advanced to the semifinals by shutting out Judge Memorial 2-0 in the second round before blanking region rival Crimson Cliffs 1-0 in the quarterfinals.

Desert Hills (14-4-2) enters the semifinal riding momentum from its impressive 2-1 upset over second-seeded Green Canyon in the quarterfinals. The Thunder, who began their playoff run with a 2-0 victory against East, feature a balanced attack spearheaded by Izzy Miller (13 goals, three assists) and complemented by Kamri Yergenson’s team-leading 15 assists.

The Thunder’s defense, which has recorded four shutouts this season behind goalkeeper Tess Peterson, will face its toughest test in containing Smith, while Snow Canyon’s backline anchored by goalkeeper Tori Martin (five shutouts) must contend with Desert Hills’ diverse scoring threats.

The semifinal’s relocation to Utah Tech provides a hometown atmosphere for both programs and eliminates the long travel north, allowing more local fans to witness this compelling southern Utah showdown.

The winner advances to Thursday’s championship match against either Ridgeline or Park City
