There may not currently be a more dynamic duo in sports than Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback and head coach have enjoyed plenty of success together, winning three Super Bowl titles and even appearing in a number of State Farm commercials together as well.
But the pair’s latest advertisement appearance is rather unique.

This Saturday, Mahomes and Reid’s alma maters of Texas Tech and BYU will face off on the football field in one of the most consequential and highly-anticipated matchups in each program’s history.
Prior to kickoff, however, the two schools are collaborating for a service project to benefit the Lubbock community, collecting new and gently-used books at both BYU and Texas Tech’s official alumni tailgates to donate to the Lubbock Literacy organization.
Mahomes and Reid promoted the cause by co-starring in a new commercial together to encourage fans from both schools to donate books for the drive. The commercial can be viewed below.
BYU is no stranger to pregame service projects. Since 2019, the school’s official alumni tailgates at road games have hosted various charity functions as part of the Cougs Care program.
Most recently, BYU fans donated shoes and other winter clothing items at the alumni tailgate in Ames, Iowa before the Cougars’ football clash with Iowa State.
