Lone Peak 41, Davis 38

Lone Peak (7-4) narrowly edged out No. 3 Davis (10-2) in a thrilling 41-38 double-overtime victory in the 6A quarterfinals. Kepa Niumeitolu ignited the comeback for the Knights with a late fourth-quarter, 2-yard touchdown run, tying the game at 38-38 with just 30 seconds left. In overtime, Lone Peak’s Tate Barney rushed for a 15-yard score, followed by Jake Barker’s decisive 38-yard field goal in the second overtime to seal the victory. Davis quarterback Tradon Bessinger connected with Isaac Morrison and Tyson Baggett in the end zone, but it wasn’t enough to shield their nine-game winning streak from coming to an end. The Knights advance to the semifinals where they will face either No. 2 Skyridge or No. 7 American Fork at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Corner Canyon 56, Syracuse 14

Top-seeded Corner Canyon (11-1) showcased its offensive prowess with a commanding 56-14 victory over No. 8 Syracuse (8-4) in the 6A quarterfinals. The Chargers seized control early, racing to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, highlighted by a 12-yard touchdown run from King Cooper and a pair of scoring passes by Helaman Casuga. Casuga completed the night with multiple touchdown passes, including strikes to Isaiah Morris and Jasean Mayberry. Syracuse briefly rallied in the second quarter, narrowing the gap to 28-14 with a 40-yard connection between Ledger Wight and Tanner Merril and an 8-yard Wight run. However, Corner Canyon’s defense, led by Mason Wood and Jayden Pearce, shut out the Titans in the second half to secure their semifinal berth. The Chargers advance to face the winner of the Mountain Ridge-Herriman clash at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Mountain Ridge 22, Herriman 14

Mountain Ridge (10-2) advanced to the 6A semifinals with a 22-14 victory over Herriman (10-2) in a closely contested quarterfinal rematch. The Sentinels established an early lead with a 15-yard touchdown pass from Jaxon Hunt to Kohen Cunningham and a 5-yard rush by Zach Ofisa in the first quarter. Despite Herriman’s efforts, including a 22-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Messer to Gavin Hansen in the second quarter and a 23-yard run by Filisi Filipe in the fourth, Mountain Ridge retained control. A 17-yard touchdown pass from Hunt to Ashton Gates in the fourth quarter solidified the Sentinels’ win. Mountain Ridge will next face the winner of the Corner Canyon and Syracuse matchup.

Skyridge 56, American Fork 29

No. 2 Skyridge (10-1) cruised past No. 7 American Fork (8-4) with a commanding 56-29 victory in the 6A quarterfinals Friday, securing a spot against No. 6 Lone Peak. The Falcons set the tone early, leading 14-0 after the first quarter, highlighted by a 13-yard touchdown pass from Kaneal Sweetwyne to Talmage Oswald and a 69-yard punt return by Briggs Parker. Sweetwyne starred with four touchdown passes, including a pivotal 70-yard strike to Oswald late in the second quarter, helping Skyridge pull away before halftime. Despite a strong third-quarter showing by American Fork, led by Kapano Manuela’s passing and Prince Afu’s ground efforts, the Cavemen couldn’t match the versatility of Skyridge’s offense. The Falcons’ defense, anchored by Griffin Kunz and Suka Finau, held firm as Skyridge maintained control throughout.


5A Playoffs

West 14, Bountiful 3

West (11-1) defeated Bountiful (7-6) in a defensive 5A playoffs battle, advancing to the semifinals with a 14-3 victory. The Panthers’ Kamden Lopati connected with Mani Tu’uao for a 7-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and later found Manu Tua’one for an 8-yard score with just four seconds left in the second quarter. Bountiful’s only points came from Cooper Coleman’s 32-yard field goal in the second quarter. Both defenses held firm in the second half, keeping the score unchanged. The win propels West to the semifinals at Rice-Eccles Stadium where they will face the winner of the Orem-Woods Cross matchup.

Springville 28, Box Elder 21

No. 3 Springville (11-1) narrowly defeated No. 6 Box Elder (9-3), 28-21, in a 5A quarterfinal matchup, earning their spot in the semifinals. Springville established an early lead with first-quarter touchdowns from Tuiono Valeti and Tua Naufahu, propelling them to a 14-0 advantage. Box Elder fought back with a touchdown from Kadyn Reyes and a field goal by Tytan Hupp to trail 21-13 by the start of the fourth quarter. However, Treyton Harris’ 38-yard touchdown run halfway through the final period sealed the victory for the Red Devils. This win extends Springville’s record winning streak to ten games and sends them to a semifinal clash with Brighton at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Brighton 27, Fremont 14

Brighton (7-5) advanced to the 5A semifinals with a decisive 27-14 victory over second-seeded Fremont (9-3) in a 5A playoffs quarterfinal matchup. The Bengals built a 13-7 halftime lead with two field goals by Kaden Hansen and a 20-yard touchdown run by Judah Valle in the third quarter to extend their advantage. A pivotal 14-yard fumble recovery touchdown by Jaxon Nettleton with 0:36 left in the third quarter gave Brighton a 20-7 lead. Fremont’s Calvin Cooper connected with Taggart Burton on a 77-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth, but Sam Tauvao’s 14-yard scoring run sealed the win for Brighton. The Bengals advance to face Springville in the semifinals at Rice-Eccles Stadium next week.

Orem 35, Woods Cross 7

Orem (10-2) cruised to a decisive 35-7 victory over Woods Cross (8-4) in the 5A quarterfinals, powered by a potent offensive showing. Tayden Ka’awa connected with Kaue Akana for a 30-yard touchdown in the first quarter, setting the tone for the Tigers. Aisa Galea’i contributed significantly with touchdown runs of 37 and 15 yards, helping Orem build a commanding lead by halftime. Woods Cross’ elusive offensive was subdued by Orem’s defense until Viliami Tapa’atoutai’s 24-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. With the win, Orem advances to the semifinals at Rice-Eccles Stadium, maintaining their impressive eight-game winning streak.


4A Playoffs

Crimson Cliffs 35, Stansbury 14

Crimson Cliffs (10-1) surged past Stansbury (9-3) with a commanding 35-14 victory in the 4A Playoffs to advance to the semifinals. After trailing 7-0 in the first quarter, the Mustangs exploded offensively, scoring 14 points in the second quarter, including Kade Shaw’s 6-yard touchdown run. Crimson Cliffs’ defense shined when Diedrick Moore returned an interception 20 yards for a touchdown at the start of the third quarter. Shaw added two more rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter to seal the game. Stansbury’s Ladarius Rhodes had two touchdown receptions, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Crimson Cliffs’ strong performance.

Green Canyon 28, Skyline 26

Green Canyon (8-5) narrowly edged past Skyline (9-4) in a 4A playoffs thriller with a 28-26 victory. The Wolves secured the win with a critical stop on Skyline’s potential game-tying two-point conversion in the final seconds. Bransen Munk led Green Canyon’s air attack, throwing a key 63-yard touchdown pass to Cody Edelmayer and later connecting with Bryson Pabst for a 21-yard score in the fourth quarter. Skyline’s Xavier Cocci powered the Eagles’ offense, scoring three rushing touchdowns, including a 2-yard run with just three seconds left to cut the deficit to two. However, Skyline’s late comeback attempt fell short when their two-point conversion was thwarted by Green Canyon’s defense. Green Canyon will play the No. 2 seeded Crimson Cliffs at Rice Eccles Stadium in the 4A semifinals.

Ridgeline 49, Park City 3

Ridgeline (11-0) continued their dominant 4A playoffs run with a decisive 49-3 victory over Park City (7-5) in the quarterfinals. The RiverHawks set the tone early with Nate Dahle’s 8-yard touchdown run at 7:02 in the first quarter, and they never looked back. Ridgeline’s defense also made a statement, with Colton Clark returning an interception for a 21-yard touchdown in the second quarter, helping build a 35-0 halftime lead. Tayson Knighton added to the tally with a 10-yard touchdown reception from Dahle in the fourth quarter. Park City’s Tanner Pidwell accounted for the Miners’ only points with a 33-yard field goal early in the fourth. Ridgeline advances to face the winner between Hurricane and Provo in the semifinals at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Provo 28, Hurricane 13

Provo (7-4) triumphed over Hurricane (7-3) with a 28-13 victory in the 4A playoffs. Provo’s Gehrig Orchard was pivotal, contributing a 5-yard touchdown run and a 17-yard touchdown pass in the first half. Ronnie Wright also had a standout performance, scoring twice in the second quarter with a receiving and a rushing touchdown. Hurricane’s Brody Jacobs provided a highlight for the Tigers with a 48-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter. However, Provo’s defense shut down Hurricane entirely in the second half to secure the win.
