After a 2-0 start to the season, BYU is moving up a spot in the AP top-25 poll.

The Cougars were ranked No. 7 in Monday’s latest poll after coming in at No. 8 in the preseason rankings.

It’s the first time BYU has been ranked as high as No. 7 since 2011.

The Cougars are one of six Big 12 teams in the current poll, joining No. 1 Houston, No. 5 Arizona, No. 11 Texas Tech, No. 16 Iowa State and No. 25 Kansas.

BYU’s opponent this coming Saturday, UConn, has jumped to No. 3. Wisconsin, who the Cougars will face next week in Salt Lake City, currently holds the No. 24 spot.

In KenPom, the Cougars are the No. 16-ranked squad, with former BYU head coach Mark Pope’s Kentucky Wildcats at No. 1.

BYU will host Delaware in Provo on Tuesday night before heading to Boston to face UConn this weekend. Should the Cougars put together another 2-0 week, they’ll likely find themselves in the top five a week from now.
