Jimmer Fredette’s basketball career may be over, but the former BYU star may have found a new way to scratch his competitive itch.

“Dancing with the Stars” pro Lindsay Arnold-Cusick joined Fredette and co-host Spencer Linton on this week’s episode of their podcast, “From the Logo with Jimmer Fredette.”

Fredette asked Arnold-Cusick how he can get on “Dancing with the Stars.”

“Have you submitted anything? Have you talked to anybody?” Arnold-Cusick said.

Fredette admitted that he hadn’t yet.

“The question is: How much rhythm do you need to really have? I got a little rhythm,” he said. “I danced a little bit. Obviously high school dances, I was crushing it. I would be in the circle, and I’d be doing my thing. I’m a little nervous if I were to try to actually put my name in the hat.”

Arnold assured Fredette that his rhythm from his high school dances was enough.

“The good news is that’s what ‘Dancing With the Stars’ pros are made for is to take anyone, any dance experience,” she said. “So, the fact that you say you have a little rhythm is promising, and the fact that you want to do it is also another promising moment.”

Arnold-Cusick said those traits coupled with a “Dancing with the Stars” pro “that actually wants to be there and wants to put in the work, there you go. That’s it right there.”

Fredette shared that he’s a dance lover and has a dance family, referencing his sister, who earned a master’s in dance from the University of Utah, and his daughter, who is a dancer.

He also revealed his “So You Think You Can Dance” fandom — a show Arnold competed on.

“Full disclosure, I’m a massive ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ fan. I watched every season ever since the start of it. I don’t know why I loved it so much. I don’t know, maybe I thought I was going to be a good dancer at some point, so I was just like, ‘you know, what? I just want to watch actual people that can dance,’” he said.

Derek Fisher, Charles Oakley and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who was partners with Arnold-Cusick, are among the former NBA players who have appeared on “Dancing with the Stars.”

“We have had quite a few basketball players. I had a basketball player, but it was actually Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He was 72 at the time, so that was a little different experience but it was fun,” Arnold-Cusick said.

The former pro said she could help Fredette join Abdul-Jabbar among the NBA alums on the show.

“I’ve got some contacts. After this, we’re gonna connect ‘cause I think that’d be amazing,” Arnold said.
