The 2025-2026 high school boys basketball season gets underway this week with the official start of the season on Tuesday. To prepare fans for the upcoming season, the Deseret News has put together capsules for every team in 4A. Every coach was invited to participate and submit information.
The region rankings are based on coaches preseason projections.
There are four new head basketball coaches in 4A this year: Gus Sopena (Summit Academy), Mitch Argyle (Uintah), Bryan Detweiler (Deseret Peak) and Scott Persons (Tooele).
Here are the 4A teams and players to watch this upcoming season.

Coach comment: Five returning starters, have eight total seniors that provide depth and a lot of Varsity experience. Makai Allen and Cal Tollesrup will bring a unique one-two punch, both can score at all three levels, and shoot high percentages. Lucas Castagnetto is a sharp shooter that will spot up all over the floor to knock down open shots. Three multi-sport athletes (Orchard and the DeMartini twins) will provide scoring, rebounding, and defense for the Bulldogs this season. Don’t sleep on Chrisman and McCune, they can defend and always seem to get rebounds at critical points of the game.
