The 2025-2026 high school girls basketball season gets underway this week with the official start of the season on Tuesday. To prepare fans for the upcoming season, the Deseret News has put together capsules for every team in 2A. Every coach was invited to participate and submit information.
The region rankings are based on coaches preseason projections.
There are three new head basketball coaches in 2A this year: Sunny Guild (Millard), Jonathan Ellis (Freedom Prep) and Paora Winitana (1st).

Coach comment: Having missed out on the state tournament for the past two seasons, our ultimate goal is to return to the tournament. The best chance for that happening is to finish in the top eight during the regular season. Our junior class has already played a lot of varsity minutes so we won’t be lacking in experience. However, we will definitely have to improve our shooting percentages and I’m hoping we can ramp up our defense another notch. There were a lot of great players that graduated last year, but there will still be a lot of tough teams in 2A.
