With the early signing period less than two weeks away for college football, Utah added another commitment Sunday to bolster its 2026 recruiting class.

That came from quarterback Kane Archer, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Who is Kane Archer?

Archer is a 6-foot-1, 205-pound dual-threat quarterback from Greenwood, Arkansas.

He is rated a three-star prospect with an 0.8711 score, according to 247 Sports’ composite ratings.

Archer was previously committed to UCF before flipping that commitment to Utah, according to Fawcett.

Archer holds two dozen scholarship offers, according to 247 Sports, with power schools Michigan, Florida State, Tennessee and Texas A&M among them.

Archer and his Greenwood High Bulldogs are two-time defending Arkansas 6A state champions and are 11-0 this season. Greenwood High will play Benton High in the Arkansas 6A state semifinals on Friday.

As a junior in 2024, Archer set a national record by completing 81.5% of his passes for 3,880 yards, 57 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He also ran for 795 yards and 10 more scores and was named the 2024 MaxPreps Arkansas High School Football Player of the Year and the 2024-25 Gatorade Arkansas Football Player of the Year.

Archer has started 43 games in his high school career and is nearing 10,000 career passing yards — he has thrown for 9,947 yards, 125 touchdowns and just 12 interceptions, according to MaxPreps.

The dual-threat QB has also rushed for 2,605 yards and 54 touchdowns at Greenwood, including 1,022 yards and 24 scores this season, per MaxPreps.

How does Kane Archer fit into Utah’s 2026 recruiting class?

Archer is the second quarterback to verbally commit to Utah’s 2026 class, joining Michael Johnson of Douglas County High in Douglasville, Georgia.

Of the 16 verbal commits currently in Utah’s 2026 class, 11 are on the offensive side of the ball. That’s a group led by composite five-star offensive lineman Kelvin Obot of Fruitland, Idaho, who is the highest-rated prospect in Utah history.

The 2025 early signing period runs from Dec. 3 to Dec. 5.
