High school wrestling: 3A boys and girls preseason projections, top returning wrestlers

Death, taxes and Juab wrestling winning state titles.

Juab’s boys wrestling team has won a staggering nine straight state championships and obviously was voted the No. 1 team by 3A coaches in the Deseret News preseason coaches rankings.

Of Juab’s 18 state placers a year ago, 14 were underclassmen as there’s no sign of the dynasty letting up.

Juab’s nine straight state titles from 2017 to 2025 is tied with Delta (1985-1993) for the second most in state history. Brighton won 11 straight state championships from 1978 to 1988, but that record could soon have company with the way Juab dominates the mats.

For 3A girls, two-time state champ Canyon View is the team to beat in the coaches preseason rankings.

Canyon View beat Grantsville by just two points in last year’s state tournament, and they projected to finish 1-2 again this year.

Canyon View had 18 state placers a year ago, and 14 of them were underclassmen. Grantsville, meanwhile, also had 18 state placers at last year’s 3A state meet, and 15 of them were underclassmen.

The teams could be headed for another epic state meet next February.
