Spencer Fano has gotten plenty of well-earned accolades in the lead-up to Utah’s Las Vegas Bowl matchup against Nebraska on Dec. 31.
Last week, the Utes’ starting right tackle became first Utah player to win the Outland Trophy, given annually to college football’s top interior lineman.
He also was named the Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year and earned the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year honors earlier this week.
On Thursday, Fano had another “first” moment for Utah football, as he officially earned unanimous All-America honors.
He is the fifth Ute all-time to become a unanimous All-American, and the first offensive player to do so.
Fano joins cornerback Clark Phillips (2022), punters Mitch Wishnowsky (2016) and Tom Hackett (2015) and kicker Louie Sakoda (2008) as Utes to earn unanimous All-America status.
To be considered a unanimous All-American, a player must earn first-team honors in a single season from these five organizations: the Associated Press, the American Football Coaches Association, the Football Writers Association of America, The Sporting News and Walter Camp Football Foundation.
It became official when the FWAA released its All-America list Thursday and Fano earned first-team honors to claim the honor of unanimous All-American.
It’s expected that Fano will declare for the 2026 NFL draft. Utah’s other starting tackle, Caleb Fonu, has already declared for the draft.
Both are viewed as projected first-round picks.
