Deseret News sportswriter Jay Drew has been named the Utah Sportswriter of the Year for 2025 by the National Sports Media Association, marking the fourth time he has received the honor during his distinguished career. Drew has covered sports in Utah for more than three decades and has been writing for the Deseret News since 2019.

Sam Farnsworth, of KSL-TV, was named the Utah Sportscaster of the Year. Farnsworth is a first-time honoree.

James Brown of CBS and sportswriter Adrian Wojnarowski were voted into the NSMA Hall of Fame. The two legends will be joined by posthumous honorees Greg Gumbel (CBS) and Sid Hartman (Minnesota Star Tribune).

The National Sports Media Association, founded in 1959 as the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association in Salisbury, North Carolina, is a nonprofit organization that seeks to assist individuals interested in pursuing sports media through networking, interning, mentoring and scholarship programs.
