There are going to be some “R-O-W-D-I-E” school buses full of Region 9 cheerleaders driving down I-15 to St. George on Wednesday.

Crimson Cliff’s co-ed cheer team won its fourth straight 4A competitive cheer state championship at UVU on Wednesday afternoon, while Snow Canyon repeated as the 4A all-girl state champs.

This is the fourth year the UHSAA has sanctioned cheer as an official sport, and Region 9 teams have won all eight combined state championships during that stretch.

Desert Hills won the 2024 all-girl state title, but it has since shifted over and been competition in co-ed the past two season. Snow Canyon won the inaugural all-girl state title in 2023 in a combined 4A/3A competition.

Just like last year, Snow Canyon swept all three categories (Dance, Cheer, Show) en route to the repeat.

“This state championship reflects months of hard work, trust in one another, and senior leaders who set the tone every single day,” said Snow Canyon coach Elsha Gubler. “They push each other to be better while still knowing how to have fun together—and that shows on the mat. I couldn’t be more proud of their effort. They truly left everything they had on the mat today. It’s a great day to be a Warrior."

Ridgeline finished runner-up in the 4A all-girl competition, followed by Sky View in third.

“Winning our fourth straight title is a dream come true. We stayed united, focused on ourselves, trusted our talent and leadership, and left it all on the mat.
