North Summit’s competitive cheer team put another feather in its cap during the 2A state championships at UVU on Friday, winning a fourth straight all-girl state championship.
Duchesne, meanwhile, tasted its first state title by winning the coed division at UVU.
This is the fourth year the UHSAA has sanctioned competitive cheer as a sport.
North Summit won two of three categories (Dance, Show) to beat runner-up North Sevier for the second straight year. Gunnison Valley finished third.
“Truly what led to this fourth state title is the culture that has been created within the program. Everyone buys in, everyone does their job and everyone looks out for one another. They’re a special group and so deserving of this four-peat,” said North Summit coach Whittney Rasmussen, who has been the head coach for all four titles.
North Summit’s assistant coaches are Jaci Berman and Lexi Steneck.
The cheer squad members for the Braves are: Alexia Adkins, Jada Anderson, Addi Brooks, Karen Chacon, Mabel Christensen, Sadie Christensen, Ella Crittenden, Everly Garfield, Meggie Jarrett, Kadence Jones, Shailey Marsh, Jayla Moore, Marnee Myers, Keslee Richins, Kalin Rowser, Addy Ruf, Kambryn Stuart, Kyla Wilde, Mylee Wilde and Olivia Wright.
Parowan was the other 2A all-girl category winner as it finished first in the Cheer.

A year ago, Duchesne finished fourth in the coed division, but it made a huge jump in 2026 to win its first state championship. Beaver finished second, followed by South Sevier in third.
The Eagles finished first in the Show category and runner-up in the Dance and Cheer categories.
“This team is special because of what they pushed through together. We’ve faced a lot of adversity this year, both as athletes and coaches, but we never wavered in our commitment to each other or to our goals,” said Duchesne coach Cami Rose.
“This championship is the result of resilience, trust and believing in the process. Being part of our school’s first state cheer title and sharing it with other amazing coaches in the state who supported us, helped us grow, and became close friends makes this win incredibly meaningful.”
Rose’s assistant coaches are Morgan Fabrizio and Makenzie Rhoades.
