Uintah is in great position to try to repeat as 4A state wrestling champion after a dominant performance at its state-qualifying Division meet on Saturday.

The Utes cruised to the title Division A crown at Mountain View High School with a team score of 465.5, with host Mountain View well behind in second place with 356.5 points.

Mountain Crest was third with 335 points.

Uintah qualified 27 wrestlers to state, one short of the maximum, as it qualified two wrestlers in 13 of 14 weights.

Uintah has won five straight state championships across two classifications. The Utes won the 4A title in 2021, 5A titles in 2022 and 2023 and then 4A titles each of the past two seasons.

This year’s 4A state tournament is at UVU on Feb. 13-14.

Timpanogos won the Division B meet on Saturday at Crimson Cliffs High School, racking up 333 team points, with Ridgeline in second with 291 points.

Hurricane finished third with 225.5 points.

Timpanogos was the 4A runner-up at state a year ago to Uintah, and is the front runner for second place again as it qualified 18 wrestlers for the state tournament.

One of the feature wrestlers to watch at the state meet will be Maddax Hacking at 132 pounds, as the senior will be looking to win a third straight state championship.

Three other wrestlers are chasing a 4A repeat: Murray sophomore Cash Christensen, Timpanogos senior Fisher Jolley and Pine View senior Caleb Patton.
