Millard’s got some work to do in its quest for a fifth straight 2A boys wrestling state championship, as the Eagles trail South Summit after the opening day of competition at the Sevier Valley Center on Friday.
South Summit ended the day with 141.5 points and advanced 12 wrestlers to the semifinals. Millard sits in second place with 130 points after also advancing 12 wrestlers into the semis.
Beaver is close behind in third place with 124.5 points.
A pair of seniors will be wrestling for a third individual title on Saturday, Beaver’s Jex Bradshaw (165) and South Summit’s Trayvn Boger (285).
Six other wrestlers are chasing a repeat heading into the final day: Millard’s Porter Dahl (120), Millard’s Lane Monroe (126), Millard’s Cal Bray (138), Beaver’s Titan Hunter (190), Millard’s Gael Gutierrez (215) and Duchesne’s Jackson Stansfield (215).
