The Deseret News is providing live coverage of Sunday’s Super Bowl LX between the NFC champion Seattle Seahawks and AFC champion New England Patriots. Check back for updates, photos and videos throughout the game.

Patriots have life

Two long passes — both to Mack Hollins — finally have New England on the board.

First, Drake Maye threw across the middle to Hollins for a 24-yard gain to the Seattle 35.

Then, on the next play, Maye threw deep to Hollins near the front corner of the end zone, and Hollins came down with the catch for a 35-yard catch. Seattle 19, New England 7 — 12:27, fourth quarter.

We’ve got a touchdown!

Seattle made New England pay for the turnover, as Sam Darnold hit a wide-open AJ Barner for a 16-yard touchdown to make it a three-score game. Seattle 19, New England 0 — 13:24, fourth quarter.

It came one play after Cooper Kupp converted a third-and-9 with a 9-yard catch to move the ball into the red zone.

Seattle started the drive off at the Patriots 37 after a Drake Maye fumble.

Game’s first turnover

Seattle, unsurprisingly, forced the first takeaway of the night, as Derick Hall strip-sacked Drake Maye on third down and Seahawks teammate Byron Murphy II fell on the ball at the Patriots 37.

It sets up Seattle well to put this win away with a touchdown — if the Seahawks can find the end zone for the first time.

‘Historically good defensive efforts’

This puts into perspective just how dominant the defenses have been in tonight’s matchup, particularly on the Seattle side.

4 field goals and counting

The scoring du jour is field goals, and the Seahawks got another one, this time a 41-yarder from Jason Myers. Seattle 12, New England 0 — 9:12, third quarter.

Seattle took its first drive of the second half 69 yards in 10 plays for the score. That included a 16-yard catch from Rashid Shaheed (Weber State) to spark the drive early after its started inside the Seahawks 10.

Sam Darnold also broke off an 11-yard run on the possession.

Halftime: Seattle 9, New England 0

There’s been a lack of offensive fireworks in the game so far, with the Seahawks at 183 total yards and the Patriots at 51.

New England has nearly as many punts (five) as Drake Maye completions (six).

Kenneth Walker III, meanwhile, had 94 first-half rushing yards for the Seahawks.

Make it 9-0

Seattle scored again, this time on a 41-yard field goal from Jason Myers to cap a 34-yard drive in the final two minutes of the half. Seattle 9, New England 0 — 0:11, second quarter.

Christian Gonzalez made an excellent last-second breakup on a pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba at the goal line on third down to force the field goal.

Defense and special teams

Through nine possessions, there have been seven punts and two field goals.

Meanwhile, there have only been a combined 11 completed passes — it’s been an offensive dud so far.

Seattle doubles up its lead

The Seahawks added another field goal, this time from 39 yards from Jason Myers. Seattle 6, New England 0 — 11:16, second quarter. This came after a 55-yard drive that included runs of 30 and 29 yards from Kenneth Walker III.

The Seahawks targeted Rashid Shaheed (Weber State) deep early in the drive but Christian Gonzalez knocked it away at the last second.

Seahawks up 3-0 through one quarter

Neither team is over 100 total yards through one quarter, with Seattle at 65 and New England at 39.

The first touch for a Utah tie

Both defenses have dominated since the Seahawks’ opening-drive field goal, as the two teams have combined for four punts since then.

Seattle already has two sacks on Patriots QB Drake Maye, too.

We just had the first touch from a Utah tie, but it went backwards — Seattle’s Rashid Shaheed (Weber State) was dropped for a 5-yard loss on a carry late in the first quarter.

There’s a Puka Nacua sighting ... in the commercials

Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver Puka Nacua, the former BYU and Orem High standout, isn’t playing in the game, but he was prominent in a Toyota commercial.

Here’s some backstory behind the 30-second spot titled “Where Dreams Began” which is Nacua’s Super Bowl ad debut.

First points are on the board

Seattle took the opening possession of Super Bowl LX for three points, driving 51 yards before scoring on a Jason Myers 33-yard field goal. Seattle 3, New England 0 — 11:58, first quarter.
