Star BYU football player Parker Kingston told a St. George Police detective that “all sexual activity” with a 20-year-old woman accusing him of rape on the night of Feb. 23, 2025, was consensual, according to an affidavit of probable cause unsealed Thursday in Washington County’s 5th District Court.

Kingston, 21, was booked into the Washington County Jail on Tuesday and is being held without bail after being arrested on a first-degree felony rape charge. An initial court appearance is scheduled on Friday in St. George and Judge Jay Winward has been assigned to the case.

According to a news release issued Wednesday evening by Washington County Attorney Jerry D. Jaeger, the rape charge follows an investigation that began in February 2025 “after the alleged victim, a female then 20 years old, reported a sexual assault to officers at St. George Regional Hospital.”

Thursday, Winward ordered the case documents — which included the probable cause statement — to be unsealed and recalled a warrant for Kingston’s arrest because the defendant had been booked into jail.

Documents had been sealed because Kingston was believed to be a flight risk, court documents show.

The probable cause statement, written and signed by St. George Police Detective Cody Layton, states the following:

On Feb. 27, 2025, “a 20-year-old female, A.M., made contact with officers at St. George Regional Hospital to report a sexual assault.”

  • On June 3, 2025, the female “met with a forensic interviewer at the Washington County Attorney’s Office … and disclosed that during their online communication, she told Kingston multiple times that she did not want to have sex with him, and if that was the reason he wanted to meet up, he should not come. A.M. disclosed that she set clear boundaries with Kingston prior to their meetup.”
  • The female “disclosed that Kingston arrived at her residence in the early morning hours of Feb. 23, 2025, and they watched a movie together. While watching the movie, they began to engage in some sexual activity, however that did not include intercourse.”
  • “After the sexual activity ended, A.M. disclosed that Kingston started to fall asleep, so she left the room to get ready for bed. When she returned approximately 15 minutes later, Kingston initiated sexual activity again. A.M. stated that she told Kingston to stop several times and tried to push him off of her.”
  • A.M. disclosed that Kingston “raped her” according to the probable cause statement.

The detective concluded the probable cause statement with the following:

“In an interview with the defendant, he claims all sexual activity with A.M. was consensual. Based on communications obtained from Kingston’s cell phone after the incident, it can be inferred that he went to her apartment with the intention of having sexual intercourse.

“I believe it is necessary to issue a Warrant in this matter so that the defendant may be located and be brought to face the charge(s) in this case.”

Kingston posted on social media last month that he expects to return for his senior season at BYU, which went 11-2 last season and defeated Georgia Tech in the Pop-Tarts Bowl. Kingston caught 67 passes for 928 yards and five touchdowns in 2025 and was expected to be BYU’s top receiver in 2026.

Wednesday, BYU Athletics issued the following statement:

“BYU became aware today of the arrest of Parker Kingston. The university takes any allegation very seriously, and will cooperate with law enforcement. Due to federal and university privacy laws and practices for students, the university will not be able to provide additional comment.”

Thursday morning, the St. George Police Department’s Records Division said it could not immediately release the police report from the incident and asked for additional time to process a GRAMA request by the Deseret News.
