Tyler Allgeier is on the move.

The former BYU star running back has signed a two-year, $12.25 million free agent deal with the Arizona Cardinals, according to a Monday report from Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

This is Allgeier’s first appearance in free agency, having spent the past four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, who selected him in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL draft.

In four years with the Falcons, Allgeier logged 676 carries for 2,876 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also holds the NFL record for most career carries without fumbling, and has recorded 516 receiving yards with another two scores.

As a rookie in 2022, he became the first BYU product to ever eclipse 1,000 rushing yards in an NFL season when he ran for 1,035 yards at an average of 4.9 yards per carry.

Upon Atlanta’s drafting of first-round running back Bijan Robinson in 2023, Allgeier’s role within the offense became less prevalent, although he did score eight touchdowns for the Falcons this past season.

During his time at BYU, the former walk-on accounted for 3,381 scrimmage yards and 37 touchdowns, running for a school-record 1,606 yards in his final Cougars campaign in 2021 while leading the country with 23 end zone trips.

Among BYU’s all-time NFL players, Allgeier ranks third behind Steve Young and Jamaal Williams in career rushing yards.
