BYU may have earned a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament, but the Cougars remain on the wrong side of the AP Top 25 poll.
Despite winning two Big 12 tournament games and keeping things close against Houston, BYU received 62 points from voters to land two spots outside of the top 25 in Monday’s latest rankings.
Five Big 12 teams appeared in Monday’s poll — No. 2 Arizona, No. 5 Houston, No. 6 Iowa State, No. 17 Kansas and No. 20 Texas Tech.
Utah State, the Mountain West regular season and tournament champion, received 28 points from voters and came in two spots behind BYU.
The Cougars also sit at No. 23 in both KenPom and NET.
BYU now heads to Portland, Oregon, to face the winner of Texas/NC State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
