Utah State has its first transfer portal entry of the offseason.
The agent of Aggies forward Karson Templin shared that Templin intends to enter the portal, according to Jon Chepkevich of DraftExpress.
Templin’s departure from Logan comes just a few days after Utah State head coach Jerrod Calhoun was hired for the same position at the University of Cincinnati.
The Mountain West Sixth Man of the Year, Templin averaged 8.8 points and 4.2 rebounds across 36 games while shooting 50.2% from the field.
Templin scored in double figures 17 times this past season, helping Utah State win the Mountain West regular season and tournament championships and reach the NCAA Tournament’s round of 32.
Following the Aggies’ opening-round victory over Villanova, Wildcats head coach Kevin Willard singled out Templin for his performance.
“I thought the kid, Templin, was the difference in the game.” Willard said. “I thought he came in with energy and just changed things. ... I thought he did so many good things defensively, and I thought he gave them energy that gave those other guys some driving lanes.”
In 93 career games at Utah State, Templin made 11 starts and averaged 6.7 points and 3.9 rebounds.
The Fairview, Texas, native and Lovejoy High alum will have one season of eligibility remaining wherever he lands out of the portal.
