In true Dick Vitale fashion, the beloved ESPN basketball broadcaster had a positive outlook when sharing his latest health diagnosis, even though it included sharing that he is dealing with cancer again.
The 86-year-old Vitale, who has battled four different types of cancer in recent years, shared Monday on social media that he will start immunotherapy next week after being diagnosed with melanoma in his lung and liver cavity.
Following a nearly two-year break to deal with his health, Vitale returned to broadcasting in February of last year after announcing he was cancer-free. He just wrapped up his 46th year covering college basketball at ESPN.

“I’ve beaten melanoma. I’ve beaten lymphoma. I’ve beaten vocal cord cancer. I’ve beaten lymph node cancer,” Vitale said in a statement through ESPN Monday. “I’m four-for-four and I’m fully confident I’m going to make it five-for-five.”
The latest cancer diagnosis led to an outpouring of support online.
Vitale shared his appreciation for the concern others showed as he prepares for his next round of cancer treatment, saying, “I plan on winning this latest battle.”
