5A Regionals (Game 2)

Pleasant Grove 10, Fremont 6

No. 19 Pleasant Grove rallied in the final innings to clinch a 10-6 victory over No. 14 Fremont in Game 2 of the 5A Regionals best-of-3 series, forcing a decisive third game later today. Allyson Young went 3 for 4 with a double and a home run, while Lillian Whiting also went 3 for 4, driving in five runs. Pleasant Grove capitalized with three runs in the fifth and four in the sixth, overtaking Fremont, which had an early 3-1 lead after the second inning.

Wasatch 14, Olympus 12

No. 16 Wasatch topped No. 17 Olympus 14-12 in a 5A Regionals best-of-3 series with a thrilling comeback to advance to next week’s 5A Super Regionals. Payton Sunland went 3 for 3, contributing one RBI, while Brylee Smith went 3 for 4 with a triple, home run, and two RBIs. Olympus battled fiercely, scoring six runs in the sixth inning, including a home run from Charlotte Comer, but Wasatch’s two-run surge in the seventh inning sealed their series win 2-0.

Hillcrest 18, Woods Cross 7

Bailey Terry went 3 for 3 with five RBIs, four runs scored, and two home runs, leading No. 9 Hillcrest to an 18-7 victory over No. 24 Woods Cross in a 5A Regionals best-of-3 series. The Huskies built an early 7-1 lead in the first inning and sealed the win with an eight-run outburst in the fourth. Hillcrest wins the series 2-0 to advance to next week’s 5A Super Regionals.

Payson 15, West 0

No. 13 Payson defeated No. 20 West 15-0 in Game 2 of the 5A Regionals best-of-3 series, securing a 2-0 series victory to advance to the 5A Super Regionals. Payson built an early lead, scoring four runs in both the first and second innings, before a seven-run third inning put the game out of reach. Payson’s Ella Watkins was instrumental from the mound with four strikeouts, while Mahaila Buys hit a home run and drove in one run.

Bountiful 12, West Jordan 8

No. 12 Bountiful captured a 12-8 victory over No. 21 West Jordan in Game 2 of the 5A Regionals best-of-3 series, advancing with a series tasweep. West Jordan gained an early lead with three runs in the first, but Bountiful secured the win with a six-run fourth inning. Peyton Orchard went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs, while Dylan Carpenter earned the win, striking out four.

Cyprus 7, Alta 5

Ranking No. 15, Cyprus clinched a 7-5 victory over No. 18 Alta in Game 2 of the 5A Regionals best-of-3 series, securing their spot in the Super Regionals. Despite Alta’s late rally with four runs in the seventh inning, Cyprus maintained its lead throughout the game. Abagail Hurtado went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs, contributing to Cyprus’s offensive effort. Sydney Shore and Viu Hosea each added a home run to boost the Pirates’ win, eliminating Alta from the series 2-0.

Taylorsville 5, Northridge 2

Aleya Wegner struck out six and Demi Miller drove in two runs as No. 10 Taylorsville won 5-2 over No. 23 Northridge in a 5A Regionals match. Taylorsville secured the victory with a two-run surge in the sixth inning. Gracie Butte managed two RBIs for Northridge, but their efforts fell short. The Warriors advance to next week’s 5A Super Regionals with a 2-0 series sweep.

Hunter 17, Kearns 2

No. 11 Hunter clinched the 5A Regionals best-of-3 series with a dominant 17-2 win over No. 22 Kearns, thus advancing to the 5A Super Regionals with a 2-0 series win. Hunter surged ahead early with 5 runs in the first inning, followed by a 9-run second inning, and Alexa Olsen contributed with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. Sydni Miller and Izabella Mailo each added a home run, while Loiana Iongi went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. Kearns struggled, mustering only 1 hit and committing 4 errors.


5A Regionals (Game 3)

Fremont 11, Pleasant Grove 9

Cara Henrie went 4 for 5 with three RBIs and a double, leading Fremont to an 11-9 victory over Pleasant Grove in the deciding Game 3 of their 5A regional series. Fremont’s explosive second inning, where it scored six runs, set the tone, although Pleasant Grove mounted a persistent challenge with five runs in the final two innings. Hallie Atmore added to Fremont’s offense, going 3 for 5 with two RBIs. With this win, Fremont advanced to the 5A Super Regionals.
