6A First Round
Cedar Valley 16, Layton 8
Kaleb Davis netted seven goals and added one assist, leading No. 16 Cedar Valley to a commanding 16-8 win over No. 17 Layton in the Class 6A first round. Cedar Valley’s defense supported their offensive efforts by causing multiple turnovers, with standout performances from Jake Huffaker and Nixon Caldwell. With this victory, Cedar Valley advances to the second round, where it will face top-ranked Corner Canyon. Layton struggled to keep pace throughout the match, ultimately unable to close the gap against Cedar Valley’s relentless play.
5A First Round
Spanish Fork 17, Fremont 2
No. 14 Spanish Fork dominated No. 19 Fremont with a 17-2 victory in the first round of the 5A state tournament. Senior Austin Olsen distinguished himself by scoring six goals, entering the top 10 all-time for goals scored. Junior Caleb Grant added two goals and one assist, while freshman goalie Gage James had an impressive 84% save percentage. Spanish Fork collectively achieved 20 takeaways, helping secure their win. The Dons will advance to face No. 3 Alta in the second round.
Pleasant Grove 10, Salem Hills 4
Pleasant Grove advanced to the second round of the 5A state tournament with a decisive 10-4 victory over Salem Hills in a nonregion matchup. Liam Stott played a significant role in the Vikings’ offense, contributing two goals and one assist, while Deegan Ash supported with one goal, five ground balls, and a forced turnover. Pleasant Grove will face No. 7 Judge Memorial in the next round.
Payson 10, Woods Cross 4
No. 13 Payson advanced to the second round of the 5A state tournament with a 10-4 region victory over No. 20 Woods Cross. Scott Rasmussen led Payson with three goals, while Austin Ewell contributed one goal and three assists. Talan Hardy’s 10 saves helped maintain the lead as Payson rallied with a dominant second half. Payson will face No. 4 Wasatch in the next round.
Northridge 10, Maple Mountain 0
No. 16 Northridge shut out No. 17 Maple Mountain in a dominant 10-0 victory in the first round of the 5A state tournament. Senior Micah Olsen led the offensive charge for Northridge with four goals and two assists, while sophomore Brekken Green added two goals and two assists. Goalkeeper Daxton Kendall posted a shutout with eight saves, backed by a strong defensive performance from Jack Hall, who collected four ground balls, caused four turnovers, and notched one assist. Northridge advances to face No. 1 Park City in the second round.
West Field 18, Roy 5
No. 9 West Field dominated with their offense, defeating No. 24 Roy 18-5 in a nonregion 5A first-round playoff game. Coopers Horspool led West Field with six goals, while Lincoln Miller contributed four goals and two assists. West Field’s strong performance secures them a spot in the second round, where they will face No. 8 Olympus.
Skyline 23, Springville 11
No. 18 Skyline defeated No. 15 Springville 23-11 in the first round of the 5A state tournament. Duncan Monahan led Skyline with six goals and six assists, propelling his team to advance. Springville’s efforts were spearheaded by Andrew Robinson with four goals and one assist, but it was not enough to overcome Skyline. Lance Stewart and Creed Condie added to Springville’s tally with four goals, one assist, and three goals, two assists, respectively. With the victory, Skyline will face No. 2 Brighton in the second round.
East 20, Viewmont 4
No. 12 East dominated No. 21 Viewmont 20-4 in the first round of the 5A state tournament. With this victory, East advances to the second round to face No. 5 Bountiful.
Box Elder 20, Hillcrest 3
Logan Preslar’s four goals and Will Ferry’s three goals and an assist powered No. 11 Box Elder to a decisive 20-3 victory over No. 22 Hillcrest in the first round of the 5A state tournament. Box Elder led the match decisively from the start, showcasing a commanding performance against Hillcrest. With the win, Box Elder advances to face No. 6 Timpview in the second round.
4A First Round
Dixie 9, Pine View 3
Ryan Turman shined with four goals and an assist, leading No. 12 Dixie to a decisive 9-3 victory over No. 21 Pine View in the first round of the 4A state tournament. Caleb Field contributed significantly to the Flyers’ win with two assists and nine groundballs. With this victory, Dixie advances to face No. 5 Sky View in the second round.
Canyon View 10, Orem 9
No. 16 Canyon View edged out No. 17 Orem in a thrilling 10-9 victory in the first round of the 4A state tournament. For the Falcons, Gavin Tanner, Mikah Potter, and Beckham Dittmar each contributed two goals, with Dittmar netting the game-winner with about three minutes remaining. Goalkeeper Kohen Carlson was instrumental in the win, recording 17 saves, including his career 800th and a crucial last-second save. Canyon View advances to face No. 1 Juan Diego in the second round.
Crimson Cliffs 20, Desert Hills 0
No. 14 Crimson Cliffs delivered a commanding performance in a 4A Playoffs first-round shutout, defeating No. 19 Desert Hills with a conclusive score of 20-0. Aydan Vidrio led the Mustangs with six goals and three assists, while West Secrist added five goals and two assists. Crimson Cliffs now advances to the second round, where it will face No. 3 Bear River. Desert Hills ended its season with a record of 2-12, failing to score a goal against the Mustangs’ defense.
Hurricane 12, Cedar City 8
Parley Watts and Brecken Michler each scored five goals to propel No. 15 Hurricane to a 12-8 victory over No. 18 Cedar in the first round of the 4A state tournament. Hurricane took an early lead in the first quarter and maintained its advantage throughout the match, securing the home victory. With this win, Hurricane advances to face No. 2 Waterford in the second round.
Jordan 13, Mountain View 2
Dash May was phenomenal for No. 13 Jordan, scoring two goals and providing four assists, including his 100th career point, as they beat No. 20 Mountain View, 13-2, in the first round of the 4A state tournament. After allowing Mountain View to lead early in the match, Jordan’s defense tightened up and held the Bruins scoreless for three quarters. Jordan advances to the second round and will face No. 4 Green Canyon.
