5A Playoffs

West Field 8, Springville 7

In a tight 5A first-round playoff match, No. 15 West Field edged out No. 18 Springville 8-7. Woods Cross 10, Box Elder 9

Woods Cross edged out Box Elder with a close 10-9 victory in the first round of the 5A state tournament. Woods Cross, ranked No. 16, will advance to the second round to face No. 1 Park City.

Payson 20, Viewmont 1

Ninth-ranked Payson dominated in its first-round 5A playoff game, defeating No. 24 Viewmont 20-1. Lauryn Tingen, Miley Miller, and Sophia Kantor spearheaded the offense for Payson, collectively scoring 15 goals, with Morgan Beveridge adding three assists. Defensively, Megan King stood out with three caused turnovers and five ground balls. Payson advances to face No. 8 Pleasant Grove in the second round of the tournament.

Northridge 12, Maple Mountain 11

Sarah “Bear” Larsen propelled Northridge to a 12-11 victory over Maple Mountain in a nonregion 5A playoff game, scoring six goals including the game-winner in the final moments. Despite trailing 11-10 in the fourth quarter, Northridge rallied, aided by two goals from Pip Larsen and their crucial defense, to even the score and secure the win while man down. With this victory, the Knights advance to face No. 3 West Jordan in the second round.

Hillcrest 15, Bountiful 14

Emmie Featherstone clinched the game for Hillcrest with a game-winning goal as the clock dwindled to three seconds, leading them to a narrow 15-14 victory over Bountiful in the 5A first round. Josie Haddock bolstered Hillcrest’s effort by contributing six goals, an assist, and dominating the draw controls. Hillcrest’s win advances them to the next stage, while Bountiful’s season comes to a close.


4A Playoffs

Waterford 17, East 0

Waterford secured a dominant victory over East with a final score of 17-0 in the first round of the 4A state tournament. With this win, No. 11 Waterford advances to face No. 6 Green Canyon in the second round. The shutout demonstrates Waterford’s defensive strength and prepares them for a challenging matchup ahead.

Desert Hills 19, Cedar City 11

Ridgeline’s dominance was further highlighted by 12 different players contributing to the scoreline in this regional matchup. This victory marked the first shutout of the season for Ridgeline. With this win, Ridgeline advances to face No. 8 Sky View in the second round.

Jordan 19, Mountain View 9

Amber Martinez scored 10 goals to propel No. 12 Jordan to a 19-9 victory over No. 21 Mountain View in the first round of the 4A state tournament. Alongside Martinez, Sophie Oppermann and Kaylee Herman each added three goals for Jordan. Defensively, Aspen Erickson and Sasha Henson combined for 10 groundballs and five caused turnovers. With this win, Jordan advances to face No. 5 Timpanogos in the second round.

Orem 8, Crimson Cliffs 7

April Nelson scored six points to lead No. 16 Snow Canyon to a 10-7 win over No. 17 Mountain Crest in the first round of the 4A state tournament. The Warriors managed to maintain a steady performance throughout, relying on a strong defensive showing to stymie the Mustangs’ attempts at rallying. With this victory, Snow Canyon advances to face No. 1 Bear River in the second round.

Canyon View 16, Pine View 2

Canyon View secured a decisive 16-2 victory against Pine View in the first round of the 4A state tournament. With this win, No. 10 Canyon View advances to face No. 7 Highland in the second round. Pine View’s season concludes with the loss.
