Another rookie player with Utah ties is getting an NFL opportunity.

This time, it’s former BYU and Utah State running back Miles Davis, who signed with the Carolina Panthers on Monday.

Davis had a workout with the team prior to the signing, according to KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson.

The 5-foot-11, 215-pound Las Vegas native spent five years at BYU before transferring to Utah State for his final season in 2025.

He went undrafted in last month’s NFL draft, then had a rookie mini-camp tryout with the Seattle Seahawks but did not sign with the defending Super Bowl champions after that audition.

He flourished in a starring role for Utah State last season, running for a career-high 731 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 5.6 yards per carry.

Davis also had 28 receptions for 201 yards and three touchdowns for the Aggies during his lone season in Logan.

He joins a crowded Panthers running back room that includes Chuba Hubbard, Jonathon Brooks, Trevor Etienne, AJ Dillon and Anthony Tyus III.

To make room for Davis on the roster, Carolina released fellow running back Montrell Johnson Jr.
