As a new head coach, there’s a lot of “firsts” for Morgan Scalley.

This one may have been one of the most fun.

Utah’s new head man participated in his first “Pebble Beach Coaches Classic,” and as part of the “initiation,” had to perform a song in front of the crowd.

A video posted by KSLSports’ Sam Farnsworth, with credit to Rich Day, showed him in action.

As he took the stage, Scalley gave a shoutout BYU coach Kalani Sitake for “getting him in.”

Scalley then told the audience that he would be performing George Benson’s version “On Broadway.”

As he started into the first verse, “They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway/They say there’s always magic in the air,” the gathered crowd cheered.

By the end of the song, Scalley had won the crowd over.

Scalley will begin his first season as head coach in 100 days as the Utes open against Idaho on Sept. 3.
