A German soccer fan visiting the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has taken over social media.

Freddy — he has not shared his full name — has documented his experiences on X during his six-week trip to the U.S. He started in Atlanta and has traveled through the southern states, stopping in Texas for a few days, where he watched Germany’s first match.

Freddy’s posts have gone viral. From Buc-ee’s to Bass Pro Shop to air conditioned stadiums, Freddy has reminded Americans of the best parts the country has to offer.

He has become so popular that he had to post a scam warning as fake accounts have been created with his name and profile picture, which is of Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

How the internet has reacted to Freddy

Freddy’s posts have grabbed the attention of politicians, brands, sports teams, a former NFL star and the biggest name in country music right now.

Utah Sen. Mike Lee wrote on X, “Let’s make Freddy a citizen.” Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville said he is “welcome back to Alabama any time.” Hunter Biden told Freddy he was jealous because there’s “nothing better than an American road trip.”

Hilton Hotels and Resorts offered Freddy free suite stays, and Ford Motors also reached out.

After country star Ella Langley saw that Freddy had become a fan while on his roadtrip, she direct messaged him on X.

On Thursday, Freddy announced he and his friends were going to Langley’s concert in Oklahoma City on Thursday, where they will get to meet the singer, whose discography has become the soundtrack to their trip.

The Langley concert is just the latest VIP experience for Freddy. Both the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans hosted Freddy and gave him a tour of their facilities.

Three-time defensive player of the year JJ Watt paid for Freddy to stay in a 5-star hotel in Houston, where an array of gifts and food were waiting for him in his room upon check-in.

The Houston Rockets even sent over some freebies to the hotel while Freddy was gone.

More VIP experiences are likely to come with the Kansas City Royals, San Diego FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps FC each reaching out to Freddy to get him to come to a game.

Why does the internet love Freddy? See for yourself.

Here are some of Freddy’s best posts.

Freddy and his friends got a taste of American college football when they attended Argentina’s and Iceland’s pre-World Cup friendly at Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium. He called it the “most ‘The European mind can’t comprehend this’ moment of my life.”
