BYU dipped into the Ridgeline High pipeline again for another wide receiver prospect.
On Friday morning, senior Riverhawk Owen Leishman committed to Kalani Sitake’s program.
Who is Owen Leishman?
Leishman is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound receiver for Ridgeline High in Millville.
He is rated a three-star recruit with a 0.8500 rating in 247Sports’ composite ratings, and the No. 28 overall talent in the state of Utah in the 2027 recruiting class.
It’s the second straight year that BYU has received a commitment from a Ridgeline High receiver.
Graham Livingston was part of the Cougars’ 2026 class after starring for the Riverhawks, and is currently serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Spain.
Leishman has 18 receptions for 340 yards and three touchdowns through four games, as Ridgeline is off to a 4-0 start in 2026. That included a two-touchdown, 100-yard game against Brighton two weeks ago.
The Riverhawks won the Class 4A state title last season, capping an unbeaten year with a 56-0 win over Green Canyon in the championship game. During that season, Leishman caught 22 passes for 509 yards and nine touchdowns.
How does Owen Leishman fit into BYU’s 2027 recruiting class?
Leishman is the latest wide receiver commit for the Cougars, joining four-star prospect Blake Wong out of California and Salem Hills’ Peyton Higginson, a two-way player who stars at both receiver and safety.
With Leishman’s pledge, BYU has now 16 commits for its 2027 class.
The Cougars went heavy on receiving targets in their 2026 high school class, with five receivers and three tight ends.
That includes former Lehi standout Legend Glasker, who scored three touchdowns in his college debut last week in BYU’s 63-7 win over Utah Tech.
